My name is Jes and I am an avid fan of all things primates (mostly the non-human kinds). I first set up A World of Primates whilst studying my MSc in Primate Conservation. Nowadays I work as a full time Zoo Keeper and part time Zoo Registrar in the UK, and I’m also a freelance wildlife artist (in all that spare time I don’t have).
A bit about me:
My favourite animals to work with are callitrichids (with the exception of the retired Llama at work), I love to travel and experience new cultures, I love anthrozoology, animal psychology and behaviour, and my biggest primate interest is the primate pet trade (and educating people against it). I love nutoka (the sustainable palm oil version of nutella- thanks Aldi), I recently gave up smoking, and I have an adopted lurcher who’s my best friend of ten years.
I hope you like my blog, it’s meant to be a bit of fun with some (hopefully) interesting stuff thrown in for those intrigued by primates and the field of primatology.
I’ll be going to Brookes in the fall for the primate conservation masters!! How was it?? I’m so excited! And excited to follow your blog!
Hi! Thanks for feedback on my ‘how to pack for the field’ post 🙂 The course is great, demanding but really worth it. I’m in the field at the moment but when I’m back I can speak to you more about what to expect (it’s always good to be ahead of the game!) I can also put you in contact with another soon-to-be 2014-15 cohorter 🙂
Thanks! That would be amazing! I love your blog so much!! Being ahead of the game is always great! Thanks and good luck with your field work!
